1024x600
Published on September 26, 2009 By GhostMatter In Galactic Civilizations II

I bought the game thinking it could work a netbook as the store page doesn't mention any resolution option. The game starts and gives me an error that I need to change my resolution to 1024x768. Obviously, I can't and the max is 1024x600. I searched on the net and the forums but could not find anything except something about a prefs.ini which I can't find anywhere.

I am running XP on an Acer Aspire one.

Any help?

Right click on your desktop, go to properties.  Then, click the settings tab.  Click advanced.  In the advanced menu, click the Monitor Tab.  In the monitor tab uncheck "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display".  Apply/click okay.  Change you resolution to 1024x768.  This will make your screen scroll at the top/bottom try the game.  (I'm working on another solution, so I'm not sure this one works, let me know if it helps)

Just checked it on my Aspire One... and it works.  The scrolling may get annoying, but at least you'll have full access to the interface

I have not had time to try it for this game but it worked for Civilization IV in a window! ( ) I will answer when I've tried it. Anyway, if you tell me it works, I'm sure it will on mine.

yea get a better laptop with at least 3GB of ram and a new video card or you could buy a usb external video card that should do the trick

Actually, galciv2 doesn't really need anything major to run.  I'm sure it would be "better" but for light weight and ultra portable, I'd say that a netbook does the trick.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! thanks! They should add the min. resolution to the requirements or add a netbook resolution like AI war does(allows it but did not work on interface). Anyway, it's very appreciated.
